FIRM PROFILE


KATRINTERSTEGEN was founded in 2014 in Los Angeles and specializes in the design of tailored residential and commercial environments. The firm's work to date includes private residences and retail projects, many of them for clients who are artists or linked to the art world.










Katrin Terstegen is a licensed architect in California and the founding principal of KATRINTERSTEGEN in Los Angeles as well as Associate Professor in the Architecture Department at California Polytechnic State University, Pomona. She holds architecture degrees from the Technical University Berlin and the University of Westminster in London and also studied architecture at the ETSAB in Barcelona. Katrin has taught at the Technical University Berlin, the University of Auckland in New Zealand, and the University of California in Los Angeles, served as juror on reviews at numerous international universities, and has lectured internationally on her work. In her research and teaching, she examines architectural typology and the language of materials and construction. Katrin is a former board member of the non-profit organization Los Angeles Forum for Architecture and Urban Design, where she served as President in 2019. Prior to establishing her firm, she was a Senior Associate at JOHNSTONMARKLEE for ten years and also worked at Brook+Scarpa in Los Angeles, Decq & Cornette in Paris, and M3H in Amsterdam.
